I got this to help my grand daughter in her Chem Regents. I took mine some sixty years ago so I was also interested in the change. By the way she did better than I did, congrats! Fundamentally Barron's has not changed. Used it back then for all my Regents and still have my old Physics and Latin 2. So the book does what is purports, presents old Regents exams. With answers and some explanations.However the NY State Regents seems useless in today's world. It is a test on memorization of facts and in my opinion fails totally to determine if the student can think through a set of problems. In a world requiring technical competence of a sort, memorization of "words" and their meanings is no science. No wonder so few seek to follow a technical field. They see what is demanded of a student and ten think this is what they will do forever! Pity.The issue is simple. Chemistry should expose you to certain facts, enable you to use a collection of "tools", and show you how to solve problems, like puzzles. It is an iterative process, understanding measurements, reactions and anticipating results. Not just facts.

These are the guides I used in school and bought this for my daughter to take her regents.
It is a book of sample tests. There is no other book.
I can get all these regents on nysedregents.org but not the detailed answers as in this book, which is why I buy it every year for my regents courses. PURCHASE RED OVER BLUE!!! The blue one is kind of useless since it's so bland, some answer keys are wrong, and the best way to prepare near the test is to practice old tests.PROS:-Detailed explanations-Handy, small book. Good for practicing on-the-go-I've been using Barrons for most if not all my Regents prep books. They're reliable.CONS:-Missing all January Regents-Barely any tests... I have to get many more from nysedregents.org in order to thoroughly prepare. I guess this is a good start as a foundation to regents prep.-Answer booklet is all the way at the end of the test. It forces me to rip it out to use it best (there are no perforations.) I really don't like the idea of having to flip through 20 pages between the test and the answer booklet. It would be great if the answer booklet had perforations.
It's a study guide, can't get too excited about it! Lol!
