This book has been very educational and a study of PTSD in the context of poetry by three poets directly involved in WW 1 warfare. Daniel Hipp has written an excellent explanation of various poems by their authors Sassoon, Owen, and Gurney all victims of shell shock. His analysis of their feelings and thoughts about their war could apply to many current day PTSD patients. I have highlighted many lines in this book. It has been a "study" for me. The poems by themselves would not have been understood in depth (I am not really a poetry reader) without Dr. Hipp studies and insight.For the World War 1 readers, these poets have framed what they saw, thought, and felt during their personal hell on earth.
