It's helpful in providing color surrounding the issues that many broken homes may face. But the circumstances in every situation are unique and there's no one solution fits all. Unfortunately. But I did find this read very helpful overall.

This book brought insight into my own shortcomings and the mistakes I was making as a coparent. It also enlightened me to the areas in which I need to change and how to handle different situations regarding the other parent.

Great book with lots of helpful information. I use it to help my clients and it's been a fantastic resource.

As a family law attorney I'm constantly looking for quality sources of information and coaching tools for clients. This handbook and the online parenting course is probably the best I've reviewed over the last 8-10 years.

One of the authors, Weller, recently co-authored a sister book on .NET game programming using C#. Here, Weller and others direct their attention to using VB as a game language. Both books follow a broadly similar approach. Each shows how to access DirectX graphics calls via their chosen languages.For example, this book starts with a basic program in many games. How to recognise collisions between your objects? It shows how VB can be used to write object oriented code in simple fashion. And how .NET enables the code to use the underlying DirectX. The VB OO code is syntactically simpler than the corresponding C++, Java or C# code, though perhaps more verbose. Those of us who use these other languages now have to face the fact that yes, indeed, you can write decent OO code in VB.Another chapter shows what it calls Artifical Intelligence usage. I would just say these are more complex coding than earlier chapters. Game programming books often indulge in such puffery, independent of what languages they use.The book goes on to recapitulate common graphics ideas like textures and meshes, but all in VB. This is not really an algorithms book, so the treatment is more to show how to do it in VB, than a detailed exposition of the methods.

My biggest complaint with VB.NET game programming books so far (and I've read a few) has been that they either: A) try to teach elementary VB.NET using game flavored examples (but nothing about actual game development) or B) try to take existing game programming material and shoe-horn it into a VB.NET book. Sadly this book falls squarely into the second category (so far).It's quite obvious that ALL of the sample code was originally written in C#. No big deal, it's easy enough to convert. However, if you aren't a VB.NET guy, don't you dare write a freaking book with VB.NET in the title. There are more differences between VB.NET and C# than just syntax!! For the love of god, 85% of the code samples (encountered so far) do NOT work as printed in the book. Some have glaring C# syntax still in them, but only in places... often sharing a line with VB.NET syntax. The tech editor should be drawn and quartered, on TV.To make matters worse, the main author seems somewhat condescending (arrogant?) for someone who's never actually published a game in his/her life, ever (and had to have TWO other people write the book with him... neither of whom have ever published a game either.) This is an actual quote, immediately after some collision detection code that DOES NOT work as printed... If you think this is too much math, this is probably the place where you should take this book back and take up something less mathematically demanding, like nuclear physics! Ok... seriously? That comment would be a lot more impressive if your code ACTUALLY WORKED!So far I have nothing positive to say about this book, so let me see... ok well, the girl on the back cover is kinda cute (allegedly one of the authors, although I have no idea which sections are written by whom... is that good or bad? You tell me.) Oh yeah, and the price I paid was 40% off, although sadly I still feel ripped off!FWIW, I did eventually get the collision detection code to work on paper, although NO explanation is made for why the algorithm handles things a certain way, and the reader is told to perform a simple Google search for more info (I kid you not!!). I'm guessing this is because they don't actually know why the code they "borrowed" (from the net?) did things that way either.At this point, I'm almost considering this book as a possible alternative energy source. I can't believe anyone at one of my favorite publishers actually read this book prior to printing it and selling it for $50 a copy. By the time you rip out the index, table of contents, foreward, introduction, recommended reading and 'about the author' section... it's barely 350 pages. Yes... I know it's not about page count, but when quality is already out the window, what other metric is there?I'm not going to tell you the name of this book or the publisher (yet), because even though I've managed to work up this much bile and stomach acid over it, I'm only on page 35. God help me, I hope it gets better quickly.It's funny, every truly good tech book I read makes me less inclined to try writing my own. This book, however, has convinced me that I still have a pretty good chance at getting published.

It seems like a decent book, but there is quite a few mistakes in the code in making reference to methods that don't exist and even using C# code mixed with VB.BET.(this is exactly the text, no typo on my part)page 34Public Class GameField public class GameField { public Shared Color BackColor as Color;End Class}I am just starting the book, but I have found 4 errors already. I guess as long as you are paying attention to what you are reading you should be able to figure them out, so I guess it keeps you on your toes. You just have to be ready to figure out why their code doesn't work when it doesn't.Other than that I am sure this book is still worth buying though.

This book may present some theoretical views for beginner level game programming, but do not expect to learn the correct syntax for VB.NET. Actually if you purchase the same authors book for programming in C# you'll find they have the same first chapter (that's as far as I looked). This book was obviously a lazy attempt for these people to make a quick buck. Unfortunately they wait until the end of the book to let you know:"Most of the example games leave much room for improvement. Even when we looked back on them after finishing each chapter, we would sometimes look at parts of the code and think, "We can't believe we wrote that." Even worse, some of the things we told you aren't always true." pg 348 While I was trying to complete the exercises in this book I spent more time with my nose in other books so I could learn the correct way to do it. Do yourself a favor get a different book.

This book is an effective game programming theory lesson if you are a capable VB.NET Programmer who can figure out how to correct the numerous coding mistakes made by the authors. There are countless examples where they've accidentally dropped C# code blocks into the mix instead of VB, and many other occasions where they change variable names that should have remained the same. If you aren't well-versed in VB, I'd caution you against buying it...you're probably not going to be able to make it through without encountering errors that end your session in frustration.The book was still useful to me, as I needed to learn the theory behind game programming more than I needed the actual code, but it was still annoying to have had to figure out why the provided examples weren't functioning properly.

Behind our masks of self-doubt, we are all heroines.”With that opening dedication, and her acknowledgment too, Heather McCollum had me all set for a wonderful adventure ..and succeeded in delivering one!I got a kick out of Grace and her courageous attitude that she believed to be cowardice. And gracious did she have a mouth! I wasn’t expecting the sassy comments from someone so quiet and..not boring exactly, but the word I’m looking for is currently escaping my mind... At any rate, she was a lively heroine with an edgy, yet sweet tartness I found highly entertaining.Keir was full of contradictions regarding his terrible title as Devil. He’s the big baddie in public, but goes out of his way to help others, in private mind you, with the help of his bestie Brodie. Say what? Even I was scratching my head with Grace on this turn of events. It’s been awhile since I had read this device plot, but it worked rather well. And I was delighted by Grace’s ability to shoot down Keir’s illogical logic behind the job in a very rational manner. Even more surprising was Keir actually listening to her-most the time.I felt the storyline itself was written decently well, but the romance kind of threw me off. The romance was good, yet slightly unbelievable for me. Grace turned into a real hussy in the bedroom which didn’t jive with the titled, virginal role she was written as. Obviously Keir wasn’t complaining, since he was reaping those benefits, but Grace was way more vocal-and knowledgeable-than I thought she’d be!I actually don’t consider this book an historical romance in the traditional sense I’m used to, but that’s not a bad thing. I’d say this is a rather..spruced up version of one. The language and actions by Grace in the first few pages alone made that obvious yet I enjoyed the changes. Grace was highly amusing, didn’t cower, and used her brains instead of her body. Keir was also different from the usual hero with his ability to empathize, listen, and help Grace, instead of jumping in with swords swinging. This was a good read and now I’m curious about the other characters mentioned! I do hope Brodie gets a small novella at point. He’s earned one!

This would be a solid 5 stars for me except for our h seemed to go from innocent lass to a whore in a few pages. It seemed she had a personality change. I was floored at her being so knowledgeable after watching two people make love. She was a virgin, but was not shy about her possibly losing her virginity - not only with words but actions. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a story with spice, but this was not the character the author introduces us to through almost 1/3 of the book.But for the rest of the story, I loved it. It is full of darkness, descriptive details what the Devil (H) has done to keep the fear alive. I felt sorry for our H and all he endured.The lovemaking is very descriptive and outside of marriage. There is a nasty villain, perhaps more depends on how you look at it. I enjoyed this story and will read more in the series. We do get HEA, no cliffhanger and an epilogue just a week into the future. Romance does build slowly which made the journey to their HEA satisfying.SPOILER - SPOILER - One question is what happened to the Laird? END OF SPOILER!!i am not going into the premise, just what you will get out of reading it. (ljb)

Everything was going well. The story was developing nicely but then on their first encounter Grace became a sexual goddess... all that talking she did... it was too much... I was feeling bad for the guy.... She was freaking me out with all that over steamy talk... I liked Ava's story and Grace was so cool on that book. What happened ??? :(

This is my first McCollum book. I initially delayed reading it for three days since I noticed a hint of modern touches here and there. But I am glad I picked it up on day three and did not put it down until I finished it.Keir is a dark and brooding hero with a past (aren’t they all). Despite that I did not feel like he was heavy on the emotional baggage. Grace is the innocent and kind healer destined to bring out the goodness in Keir’s heart. The love story is familiar and yet it was good to read about how they developed as a couple. The storyline also has a light murder mystery to it (but this was not the main focus of the story and nor was it used to drag out the plot). I would say the way the book was written was well-balanced. Granted, some editing and historical accuracy are needed but I still ended up enjoying the story. There are pages dedicated to lovemaking (if this info matters to you as a reader). Nothing too distracting though. Overall, I would consider this a light read. Something to help a reader escape and get lost in the romance.I am interested enough to check out the author’s other books.

This is the first novel by Heather McCollum that I’ve read but it certainly won’t be the last! I’m a big fan historical Scottish highland novels and have mourned the fact that one of my favorite authors has switch to writing contemporary novels; but now I’ve discovered Heather McCollum! Once again, I can look forward to new novels with strong Highlanders and the women who bring love into their lives.

I loved all the books in the series, but especially enjoyed this one, great humor throughout. I would have loved more of an epilogue though, where all of the characters from all three books are brought together with highlights of their lives, loves and sharing of their friendships. Would have brought better closer to the series and made it easier to say goodbye to the characters I fell in love with. Great writing and fast paced. Keep up the good writing Heather, but give us longer epilogues in any new books you write please!

I pre-ordered because I am OBSESSED with Simple Green Smoothies. for over 2 years, I have religiously followed that book like a bible along with her blog. This book did not disappoint. Its not JUST a cookbook... its like a blog/self-reflecting/inspiring book that just happens to have tons of amazing recipes. The second thing I love (about both books), the recipes are so easy to follow! I'm not an expert in the kitchen, I need this stuff dumbed down for me so that I don't feel intimidated. There's no fancy equipment, spices, or absurd items needed to create this food! its SIMPLE! The third thing I love - the graphics! They have one amazing photographer on their hands.I can't rave enough about this book. A vegan or a vegetarian NEEDS this. I am neither of those things, but I can look at almost every single recipe and determine how I would incorporate meat.Jen explains... don't just go out and buy everything and try to change overnight. Develop good habits! Make better decisions each day and each trip to the grocery store, make a change or two. Nothing about this book tells you to go on a diet, it just encourages more plants to be incorporated in your daily life so you'll feel better and have better overall health! Jen is a normal, healthy looking person, but she GLOWS with beauty and health. That's what I believe would happen to all that follow her ways.

I LOVED Jen Hansard and Jadah Sellner's first recipe book Simple Green Smoothies and this one is just as amazing! The photography is stunning and there's easy to follow delicious recipes, with a great variety! I loved the basics section on starting plant powered foods. I found it very informative and done in a very approachable way. I have been following Jen's website for quite some time and I love how her smoothies and healthy lifestyle has evolved into a recipe book like this! I hope there are more to come!The recipe sections include: Breakfasts, Snacks, Soups, salads, and sides, Main Dishes, Desserts, and Beverages. There is also an informative Helpful Resources section and a One Month Meal Plans. There are so many recipes I can't wait to try, the Simple Marinara Sauce, Maple Raisin Cookies, Baked Apple Crisp in a Jar, Breakfast Toast 6 ways, and the Austinite Tacos!!! They look awesome!I loved the Seven-Layer Dip recipe and the Taco Lime Salad with Cilantro Lime Dressing!!!! Delish!! I can't wait to go through the whole book and try them all! Next on my list is the Pumpkin Spice Pancakes!! Yummy!I love Jen's passion for creating a healthy lifestyle for herself and her family, and then shared it with the rest of the world! I applaud what she has accomplished with her simplegreensmoothies website , smoothie app, and Rawkstar Community. I just received my copy of Simple Green Meals, and it is absolutely beautiful! The meals are TRULY simple and green...the recipes don't call for any outlandish ingredients, and look like they are simple to prepare. This is far more than a cookbook...it's a blueprint for a healthier, more delicious way of life. From her tips to stocking your pantry to a full month of meal plans, this book is a comprehensive plan to help us get to a better, healthier lifestyle. I can't wait to get cookin'!!!

This book is gorgeous - if you collect them for that reason, then you won't be disappointed. But if you also enjoy plant-based eating that is relatable, simple, wholesome, and DEEEEE-licious, then you won't be disappointed either! Every recipe and description was created with the utmost care. You can tell that Jen really loves fueling her body and her passions with healthy food, including tons of veggies. Jen got me drinking a green smoothie almost every day and I seriously LOVE her first book. I've been wanting a book just like this. I'm a busy mom and wife with loads of things to do each day. I don't want to spend all day making dinner, you know? Almost all of the recipes fit the bill of quick, tasty, and healthy. There are a few that look more time-consuming, but worth it! I was so happy to see a big dessert section as well. Everything looks so good! I can't wait to cook out of this every single day!

Have tried a few recipes very good. Was surprised to find some recipes with eggs in them, this was under the vegan section so i was not expecting that, hence the 3 stars. I have her other book - green smoothies, great book.

I've loved Simple Green Smoothies since they launched online. I bought her smoothie recipe book and have enjoyed that, so I thought I'd like Jen's new recipe book. . . I LOVE it! In 2 days I've made the pumpkin spice tacos, blackened brussel sprouts, avocado cream, and mushroom fajitas. They were delicious! My 3 year old even loved them! I've earmarked almost every recipe. I can't wait to try them all. I've been on an eating clean and green kick for a few years. This book will help inspire me to keep going and to try new plant based meals! Yay!

Finally a plant-based cookbook with pictures. I would have had a harder time picking a plant-based cookbook if more had pictures. This book is awesome. If you a beginner, the author really breaks it down for you. And if you are a veteran, there might be something that the author brings up that you didn't know before or a new recipe. Either way, it is a great book. There a few recipes that require more prep then I want to do. I have only used a few recipes from this book but even if I only got those few, it is still worth it!!! The bean burger is AWESOME and easy to make. I also like the Green smoothie cookbook by the same author.

WARNING: Annoying sales pitch. As I read the section on Shoulder pain, I felt the author deliberately "holds back" his best material to manipulate readers into visiting his web page to learn (and buy) more. The self-serving tone ruined (for me) an otherwise decent book.To be fair, the book offers good illustrations which is why I bought it instead of Clair Davies book - which is the original and still the best IMO. But I'm a visual learner and Davies' illustrations weren't doing it for me ... so I decided to try The Concise Book of Trigger Points. I would probably have given Niel-Asher's book 3-4 stars for professional presentation and good illustrations ... but the manipulative sales pitch offends me.Not that I mind a little soft sell ... everyone needs to make a living, right? But I suffer from Frozen Shoulder - main reason I study Trigger Point books. Niel-Asher brags about the greatness of his technique for treating Frozen Shoulder ... then tells you to go to his web page to learn more. Meanwhile the book I just paid $20 for?Meh.The shoulder section is mediocre if not downright stupid. He's obviously holding back his genius shoulder technique to manipulate you into giving him more money. Contrast this to Clair Davies' tone of wanting to HELP people heal themselves.Clair Davies trigger point book remains the best in terms of compassionate helpful techniques for self-healing. Niel-Asher's book is technically superior and has good illustrations ... but the shoulder section seems deliberately bad because he want to SELL you this information in another format. Yuck.If I buy a book, I expect to see the author's best efforts in the book. Then maybe I'm open to a soft sell. Giving incomplete information as an attempt to lure people into reading/buying more is fine for on-line advertising ... but I don't expect to see it in a book i PAID good money to own.

Partnered with other books and information, this is my favorite because each page is great summary I can flip thru as I use massage ball to work a body part.

Great explanations and drawings, but the earlier editions were clearer and less cluttered with text.

Great for locating pressure points.

As a massage therapist I use this book daily. Highly recommend for any body worker or athlete.

One of the best books out there! This is a must have for your library - it will save you a lot of pain!

This book is set up where you can see a diagram that highlights areas on the body that hurt and then for that area what muscle(s) might have a trigger point. You can then look at stretches that may help or strengthening exercises relieve trigger points. Very useful!

Perfect reference guide.
