I have followed practically all of his writings and have found each and everyone of them to be five star worthy. This story of a young man left fatherless at a very young age, but possessed the intestinal fortitude to seek the ones responsible and helped bring them to justice! Will, Purdy, Marshal Shorty Thompson, Francis, and their associates certainly created havoc among the bad guys and did so with vengeance. If you love a little romance, then the cast takes time to pacify you deepest desires. Mr. Thompson does does his homework, as the storylines and characters will certainly appease your appetite for a heartwarming ride of American folklore adventures! I, without hesitation, recommend this very compassionate story of the trials and tribulations be falling many families trying to gain a foothold in western travels. If you love gunfights, romance, suspense and American justice then this book is for you. To not read the entire set of Marshal Shorty Thompson is definitely your loss. As I have stated before, this story is definitely worthy of your preference readings.

Paul Thompson, as prolific as he is is one of the best western fiction writers "today"This is just one of his many great novels and I would highly recommend it if you like western fiction. I consider Thompson as one of the best writers providing novels for Amazon and I have read 90 per cent of his work and anxiously await more.
I thoroughly enjoy reading books in the Shorty Thompson series. If you enjoy a comfortable read with action and excitement, you will like Shorty. His books are clean based on a strong storyline.
One of Paul’s Shorty’s better books. Some wrong words that didn’t make since in the placement of the sentence but it kept you coming back and kept your interest in the story. The ending was very surprising but I sure was hoping the Shorty and Purdy were going to be partners from now on. Purdy as his deputy as they would be a great match.Janet Trigg
